The opening of South Pacific Salt’s new processing and packaging facility in Stoke is an exciting development for Nelson says MP Nick Smith.
“I welcome this new venture to Nelson. It creates 12 new jobs, adds a new product to Nelson’s high value food exports and expands our investment partners in the region to China” says Dr Smith.
“Nelson excels in producing high value food and beverage products for export to all corners of the globe. We can now add salt to the incredibly diverse list of Nelson products alongside peanut butter, ice cream, potato crisps, fruit juices, fish, apples, wine, kiwifruit, berry fruit and hops.
“Nelson’s economy thrives on overseas investment and trade. We have extensive investment in Nelson from our traditional partners from Australia, Japan and the United States, but we have been slower than most in developing links with China. The importance of this new salt venture is that it connects Nelson with New Zealand’s biggest and fastest growing trading partner.”
“I commend South Pacific Chairman Li Jianguo and his Nelson team, particularly Bill Findlater on the successful opening of this factory and wish the company every success.”
